La Rochelle-born Julie Guillem studied at ENSAD Paris, printed image, 2015, and two years of graphics at Vienna’s University of Applied Arts, then illustrated in Paris. Linocut, stencil, ink and watercolour: clean lines, bold colour, a quiet poetic page. Press and publishing keep her busy. Less, on purpose.

About this artist
Julie Guillem, born in coastal La Rochelle, draws because colour arrived early and never left. ENSAD Paris, printed image, 2015; two years of graphics in Vienna; then Paris press and publishing.
Her formal education in the arts commenced at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, where she honed her skills in the printed image section, graduating in 2015. This was followed by a two-year sojourn at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, where she looked closely at the graphics section, further refining her visual language.
Upon her return to Paris, Guillem embarked on a career as an illustrator, quickly establishing herself as a sought-after talent in both the press and publishing industries. Her collaborations show her range, and a style that stays hers in a crowded field.
Guillem's work blends linocut, stencil, ink, and watercolor, each lending a different texture and depth to her compositions. Her illustrations are characterized by a minimalist approach that belies their complexity, marrying poetic sensibilities with a bold use of color.
Each piece by Julie Guillem is a study in the art of simplicity, where less is decidedly more. Her illustrations, with their clean lines and vibrant palettes, invite viewers to pause and reflect, offering a visual rest in a world often cluttered with information.
In a city known for its love of art and culture, Guillem has made her mark, and her work remains a reminder of the power of art to communicate the unsaid and to evoke feeling through the simplest of means.
