About this Artist

Edu Cardoso is a painter from the interior of São Paulo, born on December 30, 1981, in the Tourist Resort of Avaré. Demonstrating a profound interest in the visual arts since childhood, he painted his first canvas at the age of nine and has continually refined his technique ever since. A self-taught artist, Cardoso's work incorporates elements of intuitive art, primarily through the creation of dreamlike universes.

The inspiration for his work originates from bucolic landscapes, Brazilian stories, and legends. While often described as a form of folkloric Pop-Surrealism, the painter himself identifies more closely with the magic of Magical Realism. His rich canvases frequently feature circus figures in unusual settings, permeated by dreams and a search for forms of expression. Everyday elements are placed in new contexts, and his compositions often achieve their most captivating aesthetic solutions through verticality.

Cardoso's work is recognized for its richness, deeply supported by extensive Brazilian cultural content. His art has gained recognition from collectors both in Brazil and abroad. His thematic universe, populated by court jesters and playing cards disseminated across the canvas, proves that art is, above all, a creative game where the only limit is talent.
