Claire Fletcher

Claire Fletcher is a British illustrator whose work reveals a profound devotion to storytelling through detailed, delicate imagery. She studied graphic design and illustration at Central School of Art and Design, Kingston University, and the Royal College of Art, and has been an illustrator since 1990.

Her artistic signature lies in fluid pen-and-ink lines combined with watercolour washes or acrylics, crafting scenes that often feature animals and nostalgic subjects. Fletcher is co-founder and director of 'Made in Hastings', a shop selling locally sourced gifts and artwork. Her longstanding connection to Benjamin Pollock's Toyshop began in 2017. She works from her distinctive fishing hut studio, 'The Black Winkle', located in the seaside town of Hastings. Her fluid pen and ink illustrations of toys celebrate the nostalgia of childhood with a sensitivity for the world through a child's eyes, creating work that invites slow, thoughtful engagement from its viewers.
