About this Artist
Giacomo Fumagalli, the Italian illustrator known professionally as Aloha Project, represents a vibrant fusion of street culture and contemporary animation. Born in 1994 in Varese, his artistic passion was nurtured from childhood by his art-loving parents. This early encouragement led him to an artistic high school in his hometown, where he first encountered the world of graffiti and writing—laying the very foundations of his distinctive style.
During these formative years, Fumagalli was profoundly influenced by the American lowbrow art scene; its distinctive aesthetic, synonymous with skateboarding culture, designer toys, and the raw energy of writers discovered in scavenged fanzines, became his visual lexicon. He later honed this vision at Milan’s Istituto Europeo di Design, studying illustration and animation.
Today, the Aloha Project style is instantly recognisable, whether encountered on canvases, urban walls, or in animated music videos. His work has been exhibited internationally, from Los Angeles and Paris to Barcelona and Sydney, and he has built an impressive commercial portfolio with clients such as Nike, Adidas, and Universal.
His significant impact on the Italian music scene includes collaborations on the animated video for Belize’s 2017 track ‘Superman’, and for Night Skinny’s ‘6 A.M.’ in 2018. More recently, in February 2020, he directed the video for ‘Guidando forte’ by Side Baby and Psicologi, further cementing his reputation as a defining visual voice for a new generation.
