About this artist

Okudama lives and works in Hyogo after studying character design at Kyoto Seika University. She draws mountains, insects, and idol culture in warm, funny color, and a recent solo exhibition at MOUNTtokyo put that private weather onto the gallery wall for a quiet walk-through. Color does the greeting.

YooshiQ's Note
Okudama was born in Tokyo and now works from Hyogo Prefecture, after graduating from Kyoto Seika University’s Character Design program. She paints mountains, insects, and idol culture in rich, humorous color — colorful, comical, heartwarming, the three notes she keeps in mind.
In November 2023 she opened humming zzz… at Keibunsha’s Ichijoji gallery in Kyoto, the city where she had studied: girls and insects, a first solo she had wanted to give in that town. In November 2024, NOSTALtic at MOUNT tokyo was her first Tokyo solo — nostalgic scenes and small objects in pop color, 20 November to 1 December.
The color is the joke and the welcome.
